Sifra

Helleborus Verboom Sifra is a unique variety because the first pink flowers appear around the first Christmas Day. Unlike the other Winter Angels, this Helleborus flowers both indoors and outdoors, in pots and in the garden. Indoors the flowers turn light pink to white, outdoors the flowers turn pink to red. A Verboom Sifra which flowers indoors can be planted in the garden after spring as a hardy plant. This way you can enjoy this floral splendour in the garden year after year.

How to care for this plant

Water

During flowering, it is important to water regularly. Make sure that the roots of the plant do not remain in the water, as this could cause root rot. The amount of watering depends on the location and climate conditions.

Location

During the flowering period (around Christmas), the plant can be placed indoors, or outdoors in the garden or on the terrace. The cooler the environment, the longer the plant will flower. After the indoor flowering period, in spring season, the Sifra can be planted in the garden or in a pot on the terrace. Do this after the risk of night frost is over. This prevents the young leaves from freezing damage. The Helleborus remains outside the most beautiful when the plant is not in full sunlight. Because the plant receives less sunlight, the leaves remain a nice dark colour.

Fertilisation

Add liquid universal plant food from time to time during the flowering period. After flowering, provide a nutrient-rich soil and fertilise outdoors twice a year. Do this with an organic long-term fertiliser, the first time in early spring and the second time in September. If the plant is in a pot, you should fertilise it once a month.
